How to cook Couscous!

Couscous (pronounced "KOOS-koos") is a wheat product, known as the national dish of north Africa. Couscous has 3.6 g of protein for every 100 grams and contains a 1% fat-to-calorie ratio.

The couscous that is sold in most supermarkets has been pre-steamed and dried.Israeli couscous has a slightly chewier texture than regular couscous.Typically served with stews in the Middle East and North Africa,  is also used in salads.

Ok.. So this is how I cook couscous.

Ingredients

1 cup instant couscous

1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

Boil water(I use a kettle)

Pour  boiling water into the couscous and salt. Cover it with a lid for 10 minutes.

Fluff this with a fork

Or you can boil with some salt, put the couscous into this and cover the pan with a lid for 10 minutes. Can't get easier!

Psssttt...You can add more flavor to this by:

Adding stock or broth of your choice instead of water.

You can also add a tablespoon of olive oil or butter to the water.

Or you can melt the butter or olive oil in the saucepan. Toast the couscous until it smells fragrant and proceed with pouring the boiling water over this.

You can also spice this up by adding 1/2 tsp of cumin powder or your favorite spices.
